'Gorgeous' Takes Meadows Preferred

Windsong Gorgeous endured a demanding :26.3 opening quarter and had just enough to hold off the pocket-sitting Valentowner en route to capturing Tuesday’s $22,500 Winners Over $10,000 Life/Preferred Handicap

Pace at The Meadows.

Although Valentowner had post-position advantage and used it to sting Windsong Gorgeous in that first panel, Windsong Gorgeous and Dave Palone foiled that strategy by pacing home in 28.1 and scoring in 1:52.2. Valentowner came up a nose short, with the ground-saving Straighttalkxpress third.

Ron Burke trains Windsong Gorgeous, a four-year-old Rambaran-Surviving Trouble gelding who has won four of his last seven starts, for Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi LLC, M1 Stable and Louis Starr, Jr.

Palone drove four winners — three for Burke — on the 15-race card while Eric Ledford and Brett Miller each fashioned a three-bagger.
