'Special T' Rocks Dover Opening Feature

Daryl Bier picked up his second win on the 2011 season-debut program guiding Special T Rocks to victory in 1:56.4 over a sloppy track at Dover Downs on Saturday

An altered sophomore son of Rocknroll Hanover-Ladys Special owned by Bier, Forrest Bartlett and JoAnn Dombeck, scored his ninth victory of the year notching a 1:56.4 triumph in the $15,500 Three, Four & Five-Year-Old feature pace. The victory ended a three-race trip to the winner’s circle for runner-up Win A New Day (Brad Hanners). Dancing Rusty (Vic Kirby) was third.

As Bad As Thunder won the $10,200 Delaware Male Pace with Vic Kirby driving the victory for owner Florence Nitkowski in 1:55.1. Village Blast (Ross Wolfenden) and Ooh Dear Sam (Tony Morgan) were second and third respectively.

Twice track defending champion driver Corey Callahan registered four wins while Josh Green, leading driver the last six seasons, haltered two winners. Sean Bier joined brother Daryl Bier with a driving double.

Saturday and Sunday race time is 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday post time is 4:30 p.m. No racing on Fridays.
