The grand finale of the Autumn Series for Ontario-sired two- and three-year-old colts and geldings capped off the Tuesday (Oct. 25) evening card with Matteo collecting the greatest share of the $24,200 purse in a gate-to-wire victory at The Raceway at the Western Fair District.

Tyler Borth charged out of the gate from the center and went right to the top with the Up The Credit-Machioda colt ahead of race favourite Hes Sporty (Colin Kelly). The Borth-Matteo duo controlled the timer in :27.2, :58.1 and 1:27 before separating themselves from the field to win by 2-1/4 lengths in 1:56.1. Hes Sporty finished second and Shanghai James (Travis Henry) rounded out the triactor.

Mike Timpano trains Matteo for owners Wendy Warren-Timpano and Douglas Taylor. Unraced as a two-year-old, Matteo has collected his three wins and one place finish in six starts since August of this year. He has $23,155 in earnings and a new lifetime mark from his win in the final Tuesday at the London oval.

Timpano achieved a hat trick with two other training wins on the card with Arizona (Tyler Borth) and Lady Bonita (Travis Cullen).
