Two-year-old fillies were in the spotlight Monday evening at
Splash Of Pink pulled off a 9-1 upset in the first of two $17,000 Harvest Series splits for pacing fillies.
After sitting fifth through fractions of :28.1, :57.1 and 1:25.3, the All Bets Off-Pink Sheet lass was backed up to last as the six-horse field came into deep stretch. Virtual Kiss (:28) and race favourite Talk Curdy To Me (:57.1 and 1:25.3) supplied the speed, but it was Splash Of Pink who thundered home in :26.3 to win by three-quarters of a length over Talk Curdy To Me in 1:53.1. Sunny Dreams was third.
Trained and driven to victory by her owner, Danny Obrian of
Sis turned a two-hole trip into a maiden-breaking score in the second division for the tandem of driver Doug McNair and trainer James ‘Friday’ Dean.
McNair landed in the pocket behind Charming Vixen who chopped out splits of :27.2, :57 and 1:25.4 before being confronted by Sis in the lane. Sis used a :27.1 closing panel to win by a half-length margin over Gimmie A Corona in 1:53.2. Charming Vixen was a lapped-on third.

Heavily-favoured Miss Expo captured the lone division for trotting fillies, and in doing so she’s in position to sweep the series in next week’s final.
With Sylvain Filion at the lines, the homebred daughter of Alarm Detector-World Class Image parked past the quarter pole in :28.3 before finding the pylons and chopping out middle panels of :58.1 and 1:27.3. A :29.2 closing quarter was more than enough for the Shane Weber trainee to win by 1-1/2 lengths over Enola in a career-best clocking of 1:57. Sant Ambroggio was third.
Sent off as the 1-9 choice, Miss Expo lifted her earnings to $17,000 with the win. She’s owned by Tom & Beth Rankin of
