According to a report, the Woodbine Entertainment Group has contracted a lobbying firm in order to revive the possibility of casino expansion at Woodbine Racetrack.

An article by nowtoronto.com has cited Toronto Councillor Peter Milczyn as saying that he recently met with WEG CEO Nick Eaves and Sean Hill of the Capitol Hill Group in regard to a revived effort to get the city to reassess giving the green light to casino expansion at Woodbine.

The report states that an item regarding the city revisiting the issue could be tabled next Wednesday (October 30) during a meeting of Mayor Rob Ford’s executive committee.

Another report, this one by the Toronto Star, has explained that WEG became a for-profit business this past April.

The article has quoted Eaves as saying that the switch came for tax-status purposes.
