Rockemsockem Scott took the feature Winners Over Pace at Inverness Raceway on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 2).
At the release of the gate, Rockemsockem Scott (Gerard Kennedy) dropped into third position on the rail behind favoured Betterthanbutter (Zachary Mullins) and Euchred (Andrew Maclean). The field remained unchanged through the first quarter in :28.1 when Euchred and Thunder Alley (Douglas MacQuarrie) pulled off the rail. Rockemsockem Scott closed the gap inside as Betterthanbutter separated himself from the outer flow in the turn. Rockemsockem Scott continued to chase Betterthanbutter through panels of :57.1 and 1:26.3 before popping off the rail for a head-to-head battle to the stretch. Kennedy and the Rockin Amadeus gelding surged forward ahead of the field to win by a quarter of a length in 1:57 over Thunder Alley and Eastcoast Invader (Campbell MacIsaac).
Rockemsockem Scott earned his fifth win of the season in 15 starts to go along with six other top three finishes for trainer Donald Kennedy and his owner-driver Gerard Kennedy of Marion Bridge, N.S. The five-year-old gelding is now a winner of 15 races and $37,912 lifetime.
Rockemsockem Scott paid $6.10 to win.
