The tandem of trainer Jodie Cullen and driver Travis Cullen nabbed another victory at Flamboro Downs on Wednesday night (Oct. 19) when Dontpokethedragon delivered a 1-4 promise in the $13,000 Horses & Geldings Preferred Pace.
Lets Get Pickled pushed for the lad to a :28.2 first quarter with Choreographer settling for the pocket from the pylon post. Past the half in :57.2, Lets Get Pickled was soon barreled by Bettor B Going to the outside, and the two battled through three-quarters in 1:25.3. All the while, Travis Cullen placed Dontpokethedragon second over and soared off cover around the final turn to grab the lead and scoot clear to a 1-1/2-length victory in 1:55. P L Oliver rallied from third over for second and Bettor B Going settled for third.
A five-year-old gelding by Custard The Dragon, Dontpokethedragon won his 23rd race from 79 starts and has now banked $218,380. He competes for owners J J J Stables, Paul Sanders and Travis Cullen. Dontpokethedragon paid $2.50 to win.
