Snobelen Comments On Fort Erie

On Wednesday, October 16, Ontario Horse Racing Transition Panel member John Snobelen told The Niagara Falls Review that the panel sees the Fort Erie Race Track for thoroughbreds as “part of the future of racing in Ontario,” but in a reduced form.

Snobelen’s comments come after having met with representatives from the Fort Erie Live Racing Consortium this week.

The Niagara Falls Review article also quoted Snobelen as saying, “…We’d like to see racing at this venue,” in a form similar to condensed, ‘festival’ racing meets that are put on south of the border.

Last week, when she announced the Ontario Government’s five-year plan for the provincial racing industry, Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne said, “I don’t know exactly what that (Fort Erie’s racing future) will look like, but certainly the panel has said they saw a future for Fort Erie, but it will be a different kind of future.”
