Virgo ($4.40) and Corey Callahan were 1:53 winners in the $18,000 pacing feature Monday (Oct. 16) at Harrington Raceway.

Callahan, who had red hot last week with 11 wins in three nights of racing at Harrington, picked up where he left off with two wins early, including a second-over win with Virgo. Owned by Howard Taylor, Jeff Billings and Dylan Davis, the gelding followed Sir Charles Of Sky’s cover into the race. Virgo fanned three-wide at the top of stretch and hit the wire first. On The Cards N closed ground late to be second while Sir Charles Of Sky was third.

The win was the fourth of the year for Virgo, a five-year-old Always A Virgin gelding trained by Dylan Davis.

The race was named in honour of Delaware Standardbred Owners Association Executive Director Sal DiMario, who will be retiring in November. The well-respected DiMario has over 40 years experience in the business and served in his current position for 27 years, representing Delaware horsemen.

The meet’s leading trainer, Joe Columbo, had two more wins on the card, both driven by Montrell Teague, who had four wins on the card. The meet’s leading driver, Allan Davis, also had four wins.

The final week of Harrington’s 77th season of live racing will continue through Wednesday, Oct. 18. Post time is 4:30 p.m.
