This Sunday (Oct. 16), Hippodrome 3R will have three co-feature events on the 11-race program. One of those races, the sixth race pace for fillies and mares, has three return winners in the field.

The race favourite is Cafe Society from post six and will have 3R’s leading driver, Pascal Berube, in the sulky.

Berube has a chance this season to do what no driver has ever done at 3R and that is win 100 races during the 3R meet. He currently has 88 wins, just 12 away from 100. There are four race days left in the 3R meet and with Berube averaging three wins per card, the 100 win plateau is within his reach.

On Sunday, Berube will drive Cafe Society (pictured above), whose last start was a super-impressive five and one-quarter length romp at 3R in 1:57.2. She is trained by Sylvain Tremblay, 3R’s leading trainer.

In post five is Arrhythmogenic, who last week benefited from a perfect Berube steer to wire the field in 1:57.4 for owner-trainer Daniel St Pierre. This week St. Pierre will be driving.

The third return winner is Shemaksmefelunreal (post four) for driver Kiwon Waldron. Owned and trained by Michel Allard, Shemaksmefelunreal wired the field last week in 1:59.4 for her sixth win of the year. She has won four of her last six starts.

The co-feature trot in the fourth race is headlined by two-time Quebec Champion Royalty Beer, who goes from post six for driver Kevin Maguire.

In his last start Royalty Beer traveled to Ontario where he was seventh in a $102,200 Gold division of the Ontario Sires Stakes at The Raceway at the Western Fair District. The homebred is trained and co-owned by Jean-Francois Maguire.

Royalty Beer faces two return winners in the field. They are Morally Flexible (post five) for driver Stephane Brosseau and Dart Guy (post two) for driver Robert Shepherd.

The third co-feature features a full field of nine starters in Race 11. The 10-year-old warhorse Maracasso (post seven) is the lone return winner in the field, coming off an impressive score for driver Jonathan Lachance. Other standouts include Spectrum Seelster (post two) for driver Pascal Berube and Saskabush Steve (post six) for driver Jocelyn Gendron.
