Atlantic Classic Sets Sales Record

Prices were up across the board at Friday's 2014 Atlantic Classic Sale, which saw an increase in total sales to a record $668,000.

“We were thrilled with the buyers' response to this year's sale,” said Wayne Pike, Sales Manager. “Prices were strong overall, which reflects the strong racing program we have locally, and the positive impact of the recent announcement that New Brunswick will be rejoining the Atlantic Sires Stakes program in 2015.”

Ultimate Stables of Moncton, New Brunswick purchased the sales topper, Instant Shadow, a Shadow Play-Ardor Chymes colt consigned by Charlotte Ranch and Caneast Standardbreds, for $28,000.

Boyd MacDonald purchased the highest priced filly at $17,000 JJ Dream Chasin, a Chasin Racin-Farline Hanover daughter consigned by Jamie MacKinley.

The leading trotter was Time Warp, a Neal-Tymal Maroma daughter, purchased by Boyd MacDonald for $10,000 from the Meridian Farms consignment.

Other significant prices were:

- Woodmere Terror, purchased by Doug Hill, for $20,000.
- J J Jodster, purchased by Brian Burgess and Windemere Farm, for $18,500.
- Mr Orr, purchased by Buntainwood Farms, for $16,500.
- Knocknonheavensdor, purchased by Buntainwood Farms, for $16,000.
