Rumble Strips’s career got off to a rough start, but he turned things around, setting a world record and wrapping up the season by winning the Ohio Sires Stakes Championship on the way to being named the 2022 Ohio Two-Year-Old Trotting Colt of the Year.

Owned by Constance Polhamus and Mary Beth Walters, Rumble Strips won just one of his first five starts.

“He had some bumps along the way, but we know from the beginning he was a special colt,” said Polhamus.

Trainer Mike Polhamus got things turned around as Rumble Strips won three of his final four races, which included setting a world record for two-year-old trotters on a half-mile track in the Ohio Breeders Championship at the Delaware County Fairgrounds.

Rumble Strips hit the board in seven of nine starts, winning four and earning $276,135.  The son of Long Tom was bred by Franklin Equine LLC.

Rumble Strips will be honoured at the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association Annual Awards Banquet on Jan. 14, 2023, at the Hilton Columbus-Polaris in Columbus, Ohio.

The 2022 Ohio Horse of the Year will be announced at the annual awards banquet.
