Surprised? Hanover Shoe Farms reports that the first book for World Champion turned stallion Somebeachsomewhere is already full and closed

.

'Beach', the 2008 recipient for the Cam Fella Award, joins trotters Cantab Hall and Donato Hanover as Hanover's stallions with full books for 2009.

Somebeachsomewhere stands for $20,000 and early reports stated that the book would include 160 mares.

Standarbred horses are getting faster every year the breed is evolving unlike thorobreds. Lets price all yearlings out of the average trainers price range. Make the rich richer and the poor poorer.

THIS is still way to many mares to a yet unproven stallion. Standardbred racing would improve greatly if the stallions were limited to 100 mares for proven stallions and 75 for rookies. Boy would the foal numbers decrease but the prices would rise substantially. Just look at the thourougbred sales !!!! We have way to many foals born into the world now with racing dates decreasing. THINK ABOUT IT

The market decides if there are too many foals or not.Whilst i agree with the new limits,i think to limit them any further would be bad for the industry.
