Run Like Hill overcame a first-over trip to conquer the $13,000 Preferred Trot at The Raceway at the Western Fair District on Tuesday (Jan. 31) evening.

Colin Kelly and Run Like Hill settled into third around the first turn as Cool Clifford (Garret Rooney) and bettors' choice Esquire (Tyler Borth) were the early leaders. Esquire took over the lead as the opening panel was clocked in :28.4. Run Like Hill committed to the first-over trip as pressure came from behind. At the 1:00.4 half, Run Like Hill was 1-1/2 lengths off leading Esquire. By the three-quarters in 1:30.3, Run Like Hill had taken over the lead by a head. Once the plugs were pulled, Kelly distanced himself from the field with his mount. In the stretch, Marvin Hagler (Brett MacDonald) made one last surge in an attempt to capture the victory, but was bested by 1-1/2 lengths by Run Like Hill in 2:01. O Narutac Perfetto (Scott Coulter) finished third.

Run Like Hill is a six-year-old gelded son of Muscle Hill and the Kadabra mare Smarty Pants. Francis Guillemette owns and trains the winner of 12 starts and $103,327 in career earnings.
