Seaside Diva overcame a mid-year injury and returned to the track on her way to being named the 2023 Ohio Two-Year-Old Pacing Filly of the Year.
Trainer Ron Burke said the daughter of Downbytheseaside was injured while out in the field.
“It was a hard year for her. She was cut after being caught in a fence and it changed her whole year,” said Burke. “The fact that she came back and made the Sires Stakes final is a testament to her and the people who took care of her.”
Seaside Diva finished the year hitting the board in eight of 11 races with four wins, three second-place finishes and a third-place finish. She earned $239,805 in 2023.
Seaside Diva will be honoured at the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association Annual Awards Banquet on Jan. 13, 2024 at the Mariott Columbus OSU in Columbus, Ohio. Tickets to the banquet are $30 each and can be purchased by calling the association's office at 614-221-3650.
The 2023 Ohio Horse of the Year will be announced at the annual awards banquet.
