Century Mile's seven-race card on Friday evening (Jan. 26) ended with a No Contest as the finale was marred by an accident.

The accident occurred at the start of the seventh race for claiming pacers when Sporty Jewels left from post six and fell while crossing down towards the middle of the track heading to the first turn. Driver Phil Giesbrecht was unseated but able to get up under his own power. Officials with Century Mile indicated that it appears all horses and drivers involved are OK.

The nine-horse race was declared a No Contest by the judges with wagers refunded.
