Sherman Sharp In GLADA Trot

When you're hot you're hot... and that phrase can be attributed to Jessica Roegner's veteran trotter Dynamic Edge after Don Sherman guided him to his second consecutive victory on Sunday (Jan. 23) at Northfield Park.

Sent the favourite in the Great Lakes Amateur Drivers Association (GLADA) Trot, Sherman sent his charge immediately to the front from post three and was challenged by Bill Rhoades and Guilty Desire, who also wanted to cut the fractions. But after a :28.4 first panel, Sherman kept the pedal to the metal and led his competition by the halfway point in :57.3. But Guilty Desire was determined as the two leaders raced side by side around the second turn and up the backside.

However, Dynamic Edge got first call as the two trotters zipped by the three-quarters in 1:28.1. And when they rounded the final turn, Guilty Desire understandably weakened. But taking up the chase was Emerald Chip and driver Lauren Harmon, who went three-deep around tiring horses and ranged within a length of the leader as they headed for paydirt.

In the deep stretch, Dynamic Edge rebuffed Emerald Chip's challenge and went on to a one-length win as the timer flashed 1:59.1. Emerald Chip was a solid second while Curleys Son garnered the show dough for Marion Chupp.

Dynamic Edge paid $4.80 for the win. He's owned and trained by Jessica Roegner.
