Despite being saddled with a back-row start and stalled cover, E L Rock ($22.70) lifted to collar odds-on favourite Nebraska Jack in the $6,900 conditioned trotting feature on a frigid Wednesday evening (Jan. 16) at The Raceway at Western Fair District.

E L Rock kept close attendance to an early scrum for the lead to land in fourth behind pacesetter Nebraska Jack (Colin Kelly) through a :29.1 first quarter before J Harris angled him second-over behind the parked Constantino (Scott Wray) with five-eighths to go. Well beyond a pressured :59.2 half, Harris angled the 11-year-old Yankee Glide gelding three-wide around a stalled Constantino, and the pair moved onto level pegging with Nebraska Jack midway around the far turn while the second flight weakened.

Cornering for home, E L Rock was driven to the lead and was urged to maintain it to the winning post, finishing a mile and a sixteenth in 2:08.1 while a length better than Nebraska Jack. Little Point Sable (Marc St. Louis) followed the winner's three-wide cover to claim third from well off the pace.

Todd Kennedy trains E L Rock, now a 30-time winner, for Brittany Kennedy and Moneyclip Racing.

The featured win was the centrepiece of a five-bagger for Harris, who also teamed up to win with Sportsranger ($9.10, 1:59.1), Little Quick ($5.40, 1:59.1), Arts First Luck ($11.20, 1:59) and Mossies Art ($20.40, 2:06.1).
