Team Whelan launched into the winner’s circle on Thursday night (Jan. 12) at Flamboro Downs when Pink Floyd Hanover fired to a 2:00.1 victory in the $10,000 featured pace.

Gringo Star swept to the lead to a :29 first quarter and soon faced a first-over challenge from Pointomygranson to a 1:00.3 half. Pointomygranson stayed at Gringo Star’s side to three-quarters in 1:29.2 as driver Mike Whelan activated Pink Floyd Hanover, who vaulted from eighth to the center of the track into the final turn. Pink Floyd Hanover kept charging rounding for home and nailed Gringo Star by a neck at the beam with Cyclone Joe from second over finishing third and Premier Nacho taking fourth.

Christopher Nicol owns Pink Floyd Hanover, a four-year-old gelding by A Rocknroll Dance. He won his fourth race from 24 starts and has now earned $42,843. Walter Whelan trains the $32.70 winner.
