As part of the Hanover Hospital Foundation Fundraising Day and the Balanced Image Trot final, Define The World will be on hand for a meet and greet picture opportunity Saturday.

Matt Bax says the 11-year-old son of Duke Of York and grandson of Balanced image, who earned over $1.7 million in his career, went to Sweden twice, competed in the Elitlopp and still holds the world record of 1:54.2 on a half mile track at Flamboro Downs.

Define The World was a homebred by Al Libfeld of Toronto, Ont. As a three-year-old the gelding won the Canadian Breeders Championship, Simcoe and multiple OSS Gold Series races. As a result he was later honoured with an O’Brien Award as Three-Year-Old Trotting Colt of the Year.

He was retired shortly after it was determined that he had torn knee ligaments after winning a race at Woodbine. Bax says that shows how tough he is, that he can win with that type of injury. He adds the gelding’s greatest quality is something you can’t teach.

“The difference between a good horse and a great one is just that desire, that will to win,” said Bax. “You can't train that.”

Define The World will be available for pictures from approximately 8-9 p.m. in the grandstand horse stall.

“We feel lucky and proud to have such a champion come and visit us on our Balanced Image final night,” said Hanover Raceway General Manager, Gord Dougan.

Hanover’s Saturday program will include the $61,400 Balanced Image final, a corn roast, a live band, human sulky races between races 5 and 6 and Blanket presentations on six races with the sponsorship money going to the Hospital Foundation.
