Shotguninthehotsun Fires In Meadows Series

Shotguninthehotsun winning at The Meadows

Shotguninthehotsun moved relentlessly first over to overtake the leader, Tankalicious, and score in Friday’s second leg of the Wilbur Zendt Memorial at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows. Slipmeamiki took the other $11,000 division in the series for three- and four-year-old pacing colts, geldings and horses.

The championship leg of the series is set for Friday, March 24.

Shotguninthehotsun was third when owner/trainer/driver Brady Jenson sent him after Tankalicious. The three-year-old Stay Hungry-Venus Rocks gelding inched past Tankalicious and ultimately downed him by two lengths in 1:54.4 over a sloppy surface. Ferragamo Hanover finished third.

Hunter Myers gave Slipmeamiki a :31.2 second-quarter breather on the lead, and the three-year-old Always B Miki-Dancin Lucille gelding took full advantage, turning back the serious first-over challenge of Hide Your Mula. Slipmeamiki prevailed in 1:55.2, 1-1/2 lengths better than Lyons Lou, with Good Investment third. Edward Miller trains Slipmeamiki and owns with Rebecca Sugg and Ashley Dunn.

Aaron Merriman and Dave Palone each piloted three winners on the 13-race card.

Live harness racing at The Meadows resumes Wednesday, first post 12:45 p.m.
