Soaring Now Tops Preferred Equine Mixed Sale

Soaring Now winning at Hoosier Park

One of the Hoosier State’s top sophomore pacers of the past season, Soaring Now topped the Dec. 5 Preferred Equine Online Mixed Sale.

Soaring Now p,3,1:48.1-’22 ($411,375) was purchased by Ken Jacobs for $160,000. The JK Endofanera colt, winner of five Indiana Sire Stakes legs in 2022 plus the $140,000 Jennas Beach Boy, was consigned by Preferred Equine Online as agent for Levi Stutzman.

Quality racehorses once again led demand during the afternoon auction. The three-year-old Royalty For Life gelding Royaltys Rocket 3,1:55-’22 ($66,370), second in Woodbine Mohawk Park’s Ontario Harvest Series final on Nov. 19, was sold to Joe Trice for $64,000 after being consigned as agent for trainer Don Lindsey.

A pair of racehorses each sold for $50,000. The five-year-old pacing mare Powered By Mach p,1:51f-’22 ($219,817), second in her previous two starts in the Filly & Mare Open Handicap at Plainridge Park, was collared by Lawrence Fox after being sold by Carmen Auciello.

The other $50,000 price tag was for the two-year-old stakes-winning Captaintreacherous colt Captains Choice p,2,1:52.2-’22. The promising youngster finished behind the flashy Meadowlands Governor’s Cup winner El Rey in the Corbin-KYSS at the Red Mile in late October. He was purchased by John Cappa Jr. after being consigned as agent for trainer Tony Alagna.

A full complement of broodmares was also on offer. Leading that group was Cambridge Kate, in foal to Tactical Landing, at $26,000. A share in world champion trotting sire Swan For All was sold for $20,000.

“As with all of our online sales, we’re glad to provide a conduit between seller and buyer,” said PEO owner and manager David Reid. “We’ve shown there are people wanting to move horses more often than when a live sale rolls around, and they want to do so in a professional and transparent manner. We think our brand and our platform certainly meet that demand.”

In all, 24 of 31 lots on offer were sold for $589,100. Racehorses averaged $44,550. Horses not sold are still listed on the sale page, with “make offer” noted, and for many, an asking price.

Preferred Equine Online’s next mixed sale will be held the week before Christmas on Monday, Dec. 19. Entries are currently being accepted at preferredequineonline.com.
