Ponda Marshall Tops Hoosier Classic Opener

Trotting-bred colt Ponda Marshall fetched the highest price during the opening session of the 2022 Hoosier Classic Yearling Sale on Friday (Oct. 21) at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.

Ponda Marshall fetched a bid of $170,000 from Greg Luther of Blacklick, Ohio as the highest priced yearling during the opening session, and one of a half-dozen six-figure yearlings sold on the day.

Consigned by Pond A Acres, Ponda Marshall (Helpisontheway - Wildflower) is a half-brother to Indiana Sires Stakes standout Ponda Adventure 2, 1:54.2s, 3, 1:52.4s -'22 ($599,287). That son of Swan For All sports a summary of 18-5-0 from 23 career starts.

A total of 208 yearlings passed through the sales ring during the opening session. Total sales came in at $4.984 million, creating an average of $23,963.

The sale continues on Saturday (Oct. 22) with Hips 216 - 411.
