Gallucci Stablemates Sharpen For Super Finals

Silver Label winning at Woodbine Mohawk Park

Two of the Ontario Sires Stakes' best three-year-old pacing fillies sharpened for their final provincial program appearances during the session of qualifiers conducted on Friday (Oct. 7) at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

Stablemates Silver Label (PP4, James MacDonald) and Velvet Stinger (PP5, Louis-Philippe Roy) followed Carlas Mach A (Jody Jamieson) through the early part of Friday's outing, with Silver Label  second and Velvet Stinger fourth behind the pacesetter through fractions of :28.4, :58.2 and 1:28.2.

Roy angled Velvet Stinger off the pylons around the far turn, and MacDonald popped the pocket at the head of lane. Both fillies powered past the early pacesetter and sprinted home in :27.4. Silver Label's early positioning helped her hit the wire first, with the mile timed in 1:56.2 and her stablemate some three lengths in arrears.

Expect Silver Label and Velvet Stinger to join 2021 O'Brien Award winner Prohibition Legal in a three-pronged Super Final attack for Gallucci and owner Millar Farms in next weekend's OSS Super Final for sophomore pacing fillies at Mohawk.
