Marshall Zhukov Wins In Prospect Series

Racing at Georgian Downs

Trainer-driver Mario Baillargeon stayed aggressive with his Shadow Play colt Marshall Zhukov and scored a decisive 1:57.1 victory in winning the $7,200 Prospect Series split for two-year-old pacing colts and geldings on Sunday night (July 24) at Georgian Downs.

Baillargeon sent Marshall Zhukov to the lead into a :28 first quarter before yielding control to Hes A Sweetheart by the stands. After a :59 half, Baillargeon looped Marshall Zhukov back to the lead and gradually opened his advantage past three-quarters in 1:27.4. He strolled home a three-length winner over Joker On Jack, who overtook a tiring Hes A Sweetheart to finish second.

Marshall Zhukov, a homebred for Frederick MacDonald, has now won in two of his three races and earned $8,650. He paid $3 to win.
