Kauffman Celebrates Training Milestone

Ohio horseman Kayne Kauffman celebrated his 1,000th career training win in Friday night's final race at Eldorado Scioto Downs.

The winning horse was Rose Run Valor, a five-year-old gelding by Uncle Peter out of Donven Promise, owned by Kauffman's wife Natalie. Rose Run Valor went wire-to-wire in 1:56.2 with his trainer in the sulky and paid $3.60 as the favourite.

The 43-year-old Kauffman began his training career in 1999, winning two of four starts with earnings of $853. Leading up to 2022, he has had seven seasons with $500,000+ in earnings, with his best season in 2019 when his stable had earnings of $862,439. Kauffman's best year for victories was in 2015 when he had 77 trips to the winner's circle. Lifetime, his stable has earned in excess of $7 million.
