Meadowlands Gaming To Be Re-Examined?

According to a report, politicians in New Jersey may be officially investigating the idea of expanded gaming at the Meadowlands once again

.

Pressofatlanticcity.com has run an article which explains that six members of the NJ Assembly have backed a resolution which would see a Casino Gaming Study Commission examine last year's state gaming changes and whether or not expanded gaming should be implemented at the Meadowlands.

The article states that Assemblymen John Burzichelli, Ralph Caputo and Vincent Prieto, along with Speaker Sheila Oliver and Assemblywomen Connie Wagner and Valerie Vainieri Huttle are currently in support of the resolution.

According to the report, the resolution is not new, as it was introduced during the 2010-11 session. The resolution cleared the Assembly last January, but went on to die in the Senate State Government, Wagering, Tourism and Historic Preservation Committee. That committee is chaired by Senator Jim Whelan, who has been against gaming expansion outside of Atlantic City.

If the resolution could somehow make it past Whelan's committee, it would still need to be passed by the full Assembly and full Senate. It would then have to be given the green light by Governor Chris Christie, who has been against casino gaming at the Meadowlands.
