Power And Grace Cruises To Preferred Win

Power And Grace winning at The Raceway

Dropping down a notch to the Preferred 3 class, trotting mare Power And Grace scored an easy victory in Friday's mid-card feature at The Raceway at Western Fair District.

Campaigned by the father-son, trainer-driver team of Ron and Brett MacDonald, Power And Grace cruised to victory in 1:59 flat, setting fractions of :29, :59.1 and 1:28.3 along the way without any serious threats. Tymal Houdini (Colin Kelly) slipped out from the three-hole coming into the stretch and finished second, 2-1/4 lengths behind the popular winner. Urs Ifuwant It (Michiel Vanderkemp) split rivals late and edged out pocket-sitter Neon Lights (Tyler Borth) for third.

Power And Grace, now three-for-eight this year, paid $3 to win as the 1-2 favourite.

The seven-year-old daughter of Holiday Road earned her 36th career win and sent her bankroll over the $300,000 mark for owners Hartel Maintenance Inc. and Lormer McClure.
