Test Results From Lou Pena Stable
Trot Insider has learned that the New Jersey Racing Commission has received the test results from the 59 blood samples pulled earlier this month
for horses trained by Lou Pena.
NJRC Executive Director Frank Zanzuccki told Trot Insider that all samples came back negative for EPO, DPO and EPO-related agents. Zanzuccki went on to state that "as a matter of policy, the lab retains a portion of samples - if available - for future testing."
Pena is the leading trainer at the Meadowlands for both wins and earnings, and sits among the top three in North America for wins (222, 2nd) and earnings ($2.6 million, 3rd). His stable standout is Real Joke, still the fastest horse in harness racing this year by virtue of his 1:47.3 mile at the Meadowlands in May.
