For the past several years, Trot Magazine's Pepsi North America Cup Spring Book has served as an initial barometer for the colts and geldings that may be in the running for the richest prize in Canadian harness racing.

This year's edition of the North America Cup was originally slated to be contested on Saturday, June 20 at Woodbine Mohawk Park. On Wednesday (April 15), Woodbine Entertainment CEO Jim Lawson announced the race would be postponed due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.

The full Spring Book is featured in the April 2020 edition of TROT Magazine, the 'Horseplayers Issue.' The full list of horses that made the February 15 sustaining payment appears below.

#2 on your list, Tall Dark Stranger, is making his first start as a 3yo on Saturday night at The Meadowlands, and in a bold move, he's facing older horses! These are GOOD horses, too; nw22500L5, which is The Meadowlands' highest level of non/winners. Six of his opponents have already earned $20,000 this year, and 3 of them have gone sub-1:50 in 2020. It's a BIG step up when a horse races against older horses once he turns 4 (which Bettors Wish has already found out) but Tall Dark Stranger is facing them in his very first start at age 3!

#3 on your list, Elver Hanover makes his 2020 debut in an Ohio Sires Stakes race Friday night at Scioto. As always, Chris Page gets the driving assignment.
