Kelly Hot At Clinton

Colin Kelly had the hot hands during the Sunday (July 14) program of racing at Clinton Raceway, as the pilot smiled for the track photographer after five of the 10 races on the card.

Kelly’s wins came aboard Mae Belle Duke (Race 2, $3.80, 1:57.4), I C Anastro (Race 4, $6.70, 1:59.4), Topanga Canyon (Race 7, $3.60, 2:00.1), What Can I Say (Race 8, $6.70, 2:00) and Rockabilly Charm (Race 10, $8.30, 1:56.3).

After seven weeks of ‘Day at the Races’ fundraisers, Clinton Raceway has helped local groups, organizations and sports teams raise over $75,000.

The program, fully adapted in 2016, invites such organizations to apply to host a day during the 15-week season. Through BBQs, raffles, 50/50s, silent auctions and more, funds are raised on-track, as part of the weekly events.

"For as miserable of a spring as we've had, Sundays this season have been just perfect for race fans," Clinton Raceway’s marketing manager, Jessica Carnochan, has stated. "We are so weather dependent, and someone’s been on our side this season."

On Sunday, July 14, BCH (Bayfield, Clinton, Hensall) Minor hockey raised just over $1,200 for their upcoming season.

Attendance and handle have also remained strong during the first half of the 2019 season, and this Sunday's wagering action topped the $31,000 mark.

Live harness racing will return on Sunday, July 21 with the fourth annual Vic Hayter Memorial Trot. Post time for the afternoon card is set for 1:30 p.m. Full event details can be found at clintonraceway.com.
