Avatartist Romps; Prologue Streaking

After a near miss after using come-from-behind tactics in last week’s Preferred 3 at The Raceway at Western Fair District, Avatartist said ‘catch me if you can’ in Monday’s edition of the class before cruising to a handy victory.

Colin Kelly hustled Avatartist to the lead in the $8,500 affair, and the gelding rolled the field through panels of :28.3, :58 and 1:26.3 before using a :29.2 closing frame to win by 4-1/4 lengths over race favourite Its A Big Secret in 1:56. Adore Him rounded out the top three finishers in the seven-horse affair.

Matt Dupuis trains the eight-year-old son of Rocknroll Hanover-Cameron D Art for partners William Hill, Peter Harrison, Mike Saftic and James Walker. It was the fourth win of the season – and the 22nd to date – for the career winner of $315,103.

Prologue pushed his winning streak to six-in-a-row for driver Alfie Carroll and trainer Blair Burgess thanks a gate-to-wire triumph in an $8,100 conditioned event.

Carroll powered to the top from Post 7 with the photogenic performer, and together they whacked out fractions of :29, 1:00 and 1:29.2 before using a :30.1 kicker to seal the deal by 1-1/4 lengths over Zen Da Ballykeel in 1:59.3. Maximus Power was third.

The win improved the three-year-old son of Big Jim-Hornby Heart’s 2018 record to 7-0-3 from 12 trips postward. The career winner of $37,072 is owned by Karin Olsson Burgess, Robert Burgess and Stephen Upson.
