Hanover Shoe Farms recently announced that the 2018 book for Somebeachsomewhere seven-year-old Captaintreacherous p,3,1:47.1 ($3,153,541) is now full and closed.

Captaintreacherous, who sold for $250,000 at auction in the fall of 2011, proved to be well worth the investment during his three years on the racetrack.

Under the tutelage of trainer Tony Alagna and driver Tim Tetrick, 'The Captain' was a force to be reckoned with on the track. Among many other honours, Captaintreacherous was named Pacer of the Year in the United States in his two and three-year-old seasons.

As a two-year-old, Captaintreacherous captured the $1-million Metro Pace in a stakes-record-equalling 1:49.2, and also won the $309,050 Woodrow Wilson in 1:49.3m by more than 10 lengths in a stakes and track-record clocking. Other high-end stakes wins came in the $109,206 Nassagaweya (1:51.3s), the Bluegrass (1:51.3m), and the International Stallion Stakes (1:50.3m). He won his Breeders Crown elimination by more than three lengths in 1:50m before finishing third in the $600,000 Final. Captaintreacherous was the first two-year-old in harness racing history to win four races with sub-1:50 clockings. From 10 freshman starts, Captaintreacherous compiled a record of 8-1-1 and banked over $918,000 (US) in purses.

The Captain steered the glamour boy class in 2013, as he won 13 of his 16 seasonal starts, finished second twice and missed the board just once, which was good for more than $2 million in purse earnings. Among other high-profile scores, Captaintreacherous won the $1-million North America Cup in 1:48.3s, the $635,750 Meadowlands Pace in 1:48.1m, the $500,000 Breeders Crown Final in 1:49.2f, the $500,000 Hempt Final in 1:49.2f, the $360,211 Cane Pace in 1:49.2f, the $256,000 American National in 1:49, the $215,500 Tattersalls Pace in 1:47.2m, and the $95,500 Bluegrass in his lifetime record of 1:47.1m.

Captaintreacherous made seven starts as a four-year-old, which included a 1:49.2 win over the Meadowlands Racetrack during the $100,000 Maturity.
