Wiggle It Jiggleit came within one-fifth of a second of the world record for four-year-old male pacers and set an overall track record at Harrah's Philadelphia in a triumphant rematch with Rockin Ron in the Dorothy Mullin Invitational Pace, one of three $200,000 Invitationals on Sunday's (May 29) harness racing card.

Entering the final Invitational of the day off a victory in the Battle of Lake Erie, Wiggle It Jiggleit was facing Rockin Ron for the first time since that rival prevailed in the Confederation Cup. Their rematch produced record speed, ending in a time of 1:47.3 with Wiggle It Jiggleit in front at the wire this time out. The former track record, co-held by Artistic Fella and Mister Big, was 1:48.

Wiggle It Jiggleit (Montrell Teague) and Rockin Ron (Matt Kakaley) left together from posts two and three, respectively, with Luck Be Withyou (George Napolitano Jr.) also firing from the outer post seven. Rockin Ron cleared Wiggle It Jiggleit early while a persistent Luck Be Withyou eventually opted to take back to third coming off the first turn.

Rockin Ron reached the first quarter in a quick 26 seconds and raced to the half in :54 while JK Endofanera (David Miller), away fourth from the inside post, was flushed first over. But Teague pulled Wiggle It Jiggleit from the pocket down the backstretch and confronted Rockin Ron in a two-horse breakaway from the rest of the pack.

Wiggle It Jiggleit began to edge ahead outside of Rockin Ron as they raced by three-quarters in 1:20, but Rockin Ron would not surrender. The battle continued into the stretch, with Wiggle It Jiggleit ultimately drawing clear to a two-length victory over Rockin Ron in 1:47.3. Rockeyed Optimist (Brett Miller) finished over four length behind in third.

“It was unbelievable,” said Montrell Teague after the race. “I thought there might be a few more horses leaving and I’d have to take back a little further, but when you’ve got a two-hole, you’ve got to take advantage of it. I saw a horse coming on the outside of me and I didn’t want to get locked in. I was just playing my part and seeing what was going to go on and trying to be out before anyone got outside of me.

“When I warmed him up, he jumped over a couple [shadows]; that would have been another obstacle to overcome,” noted Teague. “The shadows were out pretty good until we went out, so it worked out perfect. The clouds worked out in our favour.”

Wiggle It Jiggleit is trained by Clyde Francis for George Teague Jr. Inc. and Teague Racing Partnership. The speedy son of Mr Wiggles and Mozzi Hanover lowered his lifetime mark by one-fifth of a second with the victory, which was his 29th career win from 36 starts. The $2.6 million-earner now has six wins this year and has finished no worse than second in his nine seasonal starts.

“He’s done so many races and all of them are spectacular, it’s hard to pick one that stands out,” said Montrell Teague. “This is right up there with all the big ones, I think.

“I thought I could have gone faster, but if I’m already in front, I just want to look back and see where they are and start celebrating.”

Wiggle It Jiggleit paid $3 to win at the heavy 1-2 favourite.

One race earlier, Obrigado and driver Mark MacDonald equalled the 1:52 track record for aged gelding trotters in an eventful edition of the Maxie Lee Memorial Invitational Trot.

With last year's Maxie Lee runner-up Bee A Magician scratched, the only other mare left in the field was Shake It Cerry (David Miller), but she broke stride trying to leave the gate. JL Cruze (Corey Callahan), the 8-5 favourite, assumed command from post four over Gural Hanover (Matt Kakaley), who also made a miscue early in the first turn. Il Sogno Dream (Scott Zeron) thus inherited the pocket spot and Obrigado followed in third.

JL Cruze led the field through fractions of :27.2, :56 and 1:23.1 before he also self-destructed at the top of the homestretch, leaving Il Sogno Dream to battle for top honours with Obrigado, who had launched a first over attack nearing the third quarter mark. After a stretch-long duel, Obrigado ultimately persevered by a neck over Il Sogno Dream in 1:52 flat. Maestro Blue Chip (Tim Tetrick) finished over five lengths behind in third.

“I thought his effort was great,” said trainer and co-owner Paul Kelley. “I don’t think he ever got ahold of the racetrack, to my liking anyway, but he’s a game horse and he just gives 110 percent every time you put him on the track. All the horses that race at this level are just tremendous athletes, and he overcame it."

Obrigado, who is now two-for-four on the season, notched his 36th career win and is just shy of the $900,000 earnings mark. The six-year-old Boy Band-Malimony gelding is co-owned by Kelley, Srf Stable, Linwood Higgins and Stable 45.

“His year has been really good. We dealt with some issues last year with his front feet stinging him and I think we have a better handle on what he likes and what he doesn’t like. Hopefully, he’s going to have a really good year," said Kelley, adding with a laugh, “I need a retirement plan and I don’t have one right now; not a good enough one. So this could be it.”

Obrigado paid $8 to win as the 3-1 second choice.

Venus Delight became harness racing's newest millionaire with a mild 9-1 upset victory in the Betsy Ross Mares Invitational Pace.

Bamond Racing's six-year-old Bettors Delight-Venus Killean mare earned her first win of the year in the rich Invitational, but 26th lifetime, and pushed her bankroll to $1,043,432.

Venus Delight, with Tim Tetrick catch-driving, was among a trio of early leavers from post three and settled in behind Devil Child (Brian Sears), who crossed ahead firing just to her outside into the first turn. Sell A Bit N (Jordan Stratton) also left well from post seven and tucked in third.

However, Yagonnakissmeornot (Dan Dube) was on the move early before the quarter pole, which was reached in :26.4, and rushed up from fourth to clear in front of the grandstand. Meanwhile, Sassa Hanover (Matt Kakaley) began to lead the outer flow.

Yagonnakissmeornot continued to front the mares through middle splits of :55.2 and 1:22.4 while Sassa Hanover advanced up to second-place down the backstretch, but stalled prompting 9-5 favourite Katie Said (Brett Miller) to fan wide of her cover.

Katie Said engaged in a duel with Yagonnakissmeornot turning for home and pulled ahead in the stretch while other contenders began to close in. Among them, Venus Delight was moved off the pylons and rallied outside to steal the spotlight in a 1:50.4 victory. Katie Said finished two and a half lengths behind in second, with Sell A Bit N third over Waasmula (Trevor Henry). Devil Child was fifth.

“If you’re going to get a first win of the year, this is a good one to get,” said trainer Jeff Bamond Jr. “I think she just came back a little slowly. She had a long year last year; she raced hard and just needed to get her legs under her a little bit. This definitely worked out today.

“Timmy made a great move and she just exploded today. I was very happy with the way it worked out.”

Venus Delight paid $20.40 to win for the mild upset.

Bamond Racing and Joseph Davino's Krispy Apple ($5) also won a $25,000 Mares Winners Over Pace on the undercard in 1:50 flat with Tetrick driving. Rose Run Parker ($2.80) won the Winners Over trotting event in 1:53.2 in rein to Matt Kakaley for Burke Racing and Weaver Bruscemi. Sunday's program also included a $50,000 Open Pace, won by Split The House ($3) and George Napolitano Jr. in a four-across finish. The time of the mile was 1:50 for the Chris Oakes trainee, who is owned by Crawford Farms.

You guys should eat better lunch at home , cause that's out to lunch talk . He's gotta pace in 43 . All this talk of new this and better that is Bulony . If horses had to drop 3&4 seconds off world records to be great . In time they have to go in zero . That was an awesome open at the meadowlands Saturday night . At least you have picked a horse JOHN . Congrats . Especially because its one that is alive and racing now !!! Did you see the huge mile from FFP at Mohawk ? Wiggleit beats horses like him on the way to races !! I don't know when he is going to race again , but my horse sense tells me he will be LARGE & IN CHARGE . He can leave lots . As good as any . He paced 25 and a piece in the Pepsi , he out stepped em all of the wings in philli , let one go and paced 26 , and a 26 third .. That adds to 52 . Big Boy speed , for sure !

Time will tell Mike. Last night's race only proves how much tougher the aged pacers will be. We will have to see if WIJI can dominate them every single time like Niatross did in his day.
Oh and by the way, I'm pretty sure if Niatross was racing today he would've broken that 1:46 mark a long time ago and he'd do it regularly

Mr.Scott, with all due respect Wiggle It Jiggleit is not that quick off the gate and no one was coming off the pace to beat Mel Mara last night. He paced his 3rd qt in 26.3 and his final qt in 25.4 with a final time of 1:47 The only way this horse was getting beat last night was if you could beat him leaving out, and controlled the fractions. There is way to many good aged pacers this year for anyone to go unbeaten or anywhere close. When the dust settles for the year I think the most likely horse to be aged pacer of the year is Always B Miki. Whether it is fair or unfair to be considered an all time great you have to dominate your competition. I do not see any aged pacer being able to do that this year.

It's too bad that Wiggleit Jiggle It wasn't in the Open pace last night at the Meadowlands, who knows, he might have paced in 46? I know the Teagues are making adjustments with him. So it's just a matter of time now Joe! :)

I'd have to check, but I think Wiggleit won 2 races out of the 7-hole at Yonkers

Joe Riga, Of course Niatross was not at near his best that day. Nevertheless he was beat and all in. He was a loser in that race hub rail or no hub rail. Just watch the race.
Mike Carter, of course WRH was never the trainer of Niatross. But he did sit behind him and train him on the Wednesday before the race. There is a huge difference. I am not quite certain of who warmed up whom on race day, but I've been told by several people that both Clint and Billy went their last trips with each other's horses. I was there. Shame on me, for not watching the last warmup.

This is great. I will go back to my original post. I LOVE THIS HORSE. If I had my pick of all the horses I've seen race, I would take Wiggle It Jiggleit over em all !!! He looks so goo, I like his atmosphere, the connections " father & son and an old friend as trainer. He does deserve a crowd, even if he doesn't win every week. He is not a shoe in, every week. He has obstacles. Greatness is in his grip. I'm in Mexico right now. When he came to Mohawk, I emailed my old buddy Anthony Macdonald and asked him to take a picture of him for me. He did!! I am so thankful!!

Murray, I saw the race many many times and soundly beaten to me means that you are 100% but it was not enough. I think that anyone who knows Niatross would readily admit that something was definitely wrong that day. A horse that is not himself does not just decide to fall over a rail. The fact is that Trenton Time never got close to Niatross before or after that... so his victory while still a victory is pretty hollow at best. This is not the same as the Beach coming up a nose short in record time in the Meadowlands pace. American Pharoah got beat too by a horse that he trashed many times. Anyone can tell you that wasn't the real American Pharoah.
Yes I agree that they all get beat and for various reasons. But my point is give me Niatross at 100% and give me Trenton Time at 100% and Niatross wins every single time.

Mr.Brown,

I could be wrong here but i don't think Haughton trained Niatross or ever drove him. I think he was both trained and driven by Gailbraith. Haughton however did train Nihilator.

I've often wondered if Billy Haughton, the horse genius that he was, knew that Niatross was not himself that day.
I'm pretty sure of this but not certain. I believe that Billy went his last trip with Niatross that day, while Clint went with Trenton Time.
What I am certain about is that Haughton trained Niatross on either the Wednesday or Thursday preceding that Saturday afternoon's race.
I've asked myself a few times, 'Why would WRH have raced Trenton Time as aggressively as he did, if he did not sense Niatross's vulnerability?'
I suppose that's just one of the many answers I will never know the answer to.

Joe Riga, I won't get into this argument other than to say that I was at Saratoga the day Niatross went over the hubrail. He was clearly beat by Trenton Time, a nice, but far from great horse on that day.
If you don't believe me, then just go to youtube and watch the race. To say that he was never beat on his own accord is simply untrue.

In reply to by murray

just watched the race.
Niatross was being passed by all.
He was in 3rd when he went over the rail and he would have ended up 5th if he finished.
Thankfully he just rolled over onto the infield and wasn't hurt.
When I see horses go down like that it usually is because of an obstructed airway.

Nice debate going on here about some really great horses. It's a shame that we didn't see some of these horses campaign as 4 year olds. Somebeach, Niatross to mention just a couple. This is a sport and you are going to lose on occasion that is a fact. I was at Windsor Raceway when Isle of Wight beat the sensational Albatross at the Provincial Cup. I watched Wiggle lose the Pepsi North American Cup, Somebeach the Meadowlands Pace... although that was some race. He was used 3 times in that race and just got nipped. How many races did Cam Fella win a row before he tasted defeat again? All of the new equipment, sleeker race bikes, faster tracks, better supplements, all lead to horses going faster then ever. I don't think you can even mention Wiggle in the same breath as Somebeach and Niatross. Somebeach won the 2008 Pepsi Cup in 1:49 which is still a great standard for these days. Niatross set that standard in 1980 some 36 years ago. It was a time trial but only because there was no horses around that could push him faster. He was in a class all by himself. All this talk about Wiggle breaking the record may happen but not without a crazy stupid fast pace. It still may not happen even then but I think if it does it will be Always B Miki who does it.

Rasheed your comments while mostly true they are also need to be taken with a grain of salt.

Fist off for a horse to prove he is superior to another he needs to beat them more then once and in fact several times.
So far WIJI and Rockin Ron have each beaten each other one time. So for now at least they are tied.
WIJI and Freaky Feet Pete have also beaten each other twice so for now at least they are also both tied.
This disproves your comment that WIJI has thrashed any horse that has beaten him. This is simply false.
Also, to be fair to ALL horses a lot of these races were contested on half mile or 5/8 mile tracks where one or the other benefited or was hurt by a bad post. No doubt WIJI was hurt by a bad post in the Confederation Cup final whereas Rockin Ron benefited.
However, WIJI benefited from a great post (rail) when he beat Freaky Feet in Northfield where FFP had post 5 and was parked the entire mile.
I rarely use these types of races to gauge ability because post is such a huge factor.
In the case of FFP he beat WIJI twice on a 7/8 mile track where post was no factor so that says something.
As for comparing WIJI to Always B Miki, time will tell who gets the best of who when they eventually hook up. One thing I know is that Always B Miki dominated the older ranks last year and looks just as good if not better this year so beating him will be a tall order for anyone. On the Meadowlands show 2 weeks ago Tim Tetrick said that in his opinion Always B Miki is the scariest guy going right now. Coming from a guy who has raced against him and has also driven some very good horses himself that carries some weight.
And now here's the final kicker and this is why I say the mighty Niatross was the best hands down. Once again I repeat. HE WAS NEVER ACTUALLY BEATEN cleanly in a race regardless of track size or post.
I saw him race one time on a half mile track where he started in the second tier and by the time the first quarter was up he had already circled the entire field, took the lead and said good night. Now that was scary.
That's what made him so good.
Clint Galbraith who was Niatross' driver once said that the best race Niatross ran was when he actually came fifth in the Meadowlands Pace elimination after breaking stride. He was so far behind that it seemed impossible he could catch the field and come fifth to qualify for the final. Galbraith said it was the only time he ever actually asked Niatross to give him everything he had and boy did he respond. He came 5th and qualified for the final. After that Galbraith said he heard the whispers about how maybe Niatross was not that good so Galbraith decided that in the final he was going to make a statement. And boy did he. He crushed the field. Galbraith said it was not his character to show off but he wanted to prove to everybody how good Niatross really was. He didn't leave any doubts after the race.
Far and away the greatest ever.

Hi John

he actually was there but for some reason didn't make it on the blog. Thanks for pointing that out. He definitely is the best of all the Niatross sired horses hands down.

Great minds think alike lol.

Anyone that watched Wiggle It Jiggleit race his (2) starts this year in Canada Could have plainly seen that the horse was very rough gated in Mohawk his first start . Yes he didn't win the race, but with the (stride) he had that night most other horses wouldn't have been second either. He rebounded in Flamborough. Trailing post and all and was still closing at the line. His (stride) was much improved but not perfect. The connections have never complained publicly over any of his ailments or racing luck. They have raced him and accepted whatever happened and moved forward. Worked hard on the horse and are managing his 4 year old career (day by day ) minute by minute. If you watch his next start, just take a look at the huge :) SMILE Montrel has on his face when he crosses the wire. That's a smile of hard work and success!!

Mr.Riga you forget to put the great Nihilator on your list. His lifetime earnings were over $3 million dollars... to be exact $3,225,632. This was the greatest horse that Niatross ever sired, and Nihilator may make some people's top 10 list of all time pacing greats.

Thanks Mike

I totally agree and the fact that you, myself and others take the time to read these posts and take friendly jabs at one another can only be seen as a positive. That is what I like about this blog. The fact that a bunch of us can get on here and in a way relive a lot of old memories, give our opinions on the status of the game and hopefully make a difference. This sport can definitely use all the hype it can get and to be truthful this has been a lot of fun. Would love to have done this in person over a couple of cold beers but this is the next best thing. Hope you can forgive my stubborn defence of Niatross, as you can tell I am a huge fan. That being said I will say this. WIJI has definitely been good for the game and I'm happy he came back as a four year old along with Freaky Feet. Should hopefully be a good rivalry and am a looking forward to seeing what Always B Miki will do.
Have fun and enjoy the races and hope you cash a lot of tickets.

God Bless

Thanks for doing your homework on Niatross's top producers. I was in awe of what Niatross did when he was doing it. NO DOUBT: after all this talk of Niatross I simply checked the pedigree of a few of the top pacing horses racing today . Wiggleit Jiggle It, Somebeach, Western Hanover, Sweet Lou, Mach three, Bettors Delight and the great 7 million plus man... none of them have a single drop of Niatross blood. I also think Lou Guida went out and bought about 10 high priced Niatross yearlings to prove he was a sire, and Nialator was one of them. Today they'd call it damage control. As of today with the pedigree on these horses, Niatross' Dna will be erased over time

Awesome Joe . I knew you'd come thru on that :)) giving my boy wiggleit the WOW , when it happens . Lol .. I am glad about the responses and the action .. I love the action, needless to say these horses that are battling in this 2016 campaign need supporters .. Big Time so whether is Always B Miki or all the above , we gotta get behind these horses, I just loved the fans who showed up into the winners circle with wiggleit the other day in Philly . This is great for the sport and Canada as a whole needs this type of hype ... Enjoy the races and thanks Mike

Niatross time trialed in 1:49 IN 1980. How many more years did it take for a horse to even get close to 1:49? That tells you how far ahead of his time he was. Rasheed your comment does not make sense. Niatross fell over the rail. Whatever the reason I am sure it had a lot more to do then getting leg weary. He obviously was not himself that day because he whipped those horse before that race and he whipped them after that race. If the best you got is to say you beat me after I fall over the rail then that aint saying much.
When Niatross was racing he was never even headed let alone beat. Once he made the lead for all intents and purposes the race was over.
Ron Waples, who I think knows a little something about harness racing called Niatross the greatest horse he had seen.My friend Mike Scott, you imply Niatross did not have good bloodlines. That's not really relevant to how good he himself was since Secretariat had even worse bloodlines. But since we are at it look at the list of horses he sired below. If you don't recognize these names then you haven't been around racing long enough my friend.
I agree with Mr. Carter. Niatross would beat the snot out of horses running today.

Nihilator - $3,225,653
Barberry Spur – $1,634,017
Caressable(f) – $1,006,380
Semalu ‘Amour (f) – $880,187
Chatham Light – $849,845
Pershing Square – $812,277
Pilgrim’s Patriot – $805,471
Casino Cowboy – $802,445
Ultra Jet – $756,571
Smartest Remark – $607,537
Masquerade – $598,542
Freight Saver – $593,409

One last thing Mr. Rasheed. You claim that WIJI is "by far" the most dominant pacer today? I think a horse that goes by the name Always Be Miki will have something to say about that. But as always, time will tell.

In reply to by fantom

I don't see the connections of WiJi sidestepping anyone, in fact, they are bringing it to all comers. Every horse that has beat WiJi this year, he has resoundingly, thrashes them next out. Starting with Bit of a Legend N in the Levy series at Yonkers, WiJi totally destroyed him at Harrahs, and the same goes for Rocking Ron @ Flamboro, WiJi took care of two birds with one stone, in record pacing time. Always Be Miki is good, but WiJi is just better, a step above, and a Class above.

In reply to by Power0fTheMind

Take a look at WIJI's wins... all from favorable inside posts.
All his losses and there are a few... post 6 at Mohawk when he couldn't beat Nickle Bag...
A true mark of a champion is to win under any circumstance...
WIJI has not... love betting against him and getting great odds.
Betting on WIJI is akin to using a UOIJI board. You never know what you will get.

wow...some really passionate replies.
time will tell. I remember a few up and coming stars who eventually succumbed to pressure in the FFA ranks.

Take a look at WIJI's wins...and losses.
Seems he gets off a tad slow and cannot overcome a bad post.
Looks at all his wins...
Heck he lost to Nickle Bag who IMO is not on the top of the food chain.
Just wait until after the Breeders Crown is done.
Remember Sweet Lou as a 4 yr old?
It was tough on him adapting then 5 hit and he blossomed again.
Apples to oranges, bananas to lemons.
Only time will tell.
The over the top replies will never stop.
At least we have passionate fans.

Hey Mike
If he does break the :46 I will say WOW. But I still won't put him on Niatross' level. I said WOW when Cambest paced in :46 and there have been a lot of horses that are real nice and have made me say WOW.

I just wouldn't put any of them ahead of Niatross. Niatross was in a class all by himself. He won all his races by open lengths and made it look so easy doing it. Horse could barely get close to him.

He set numerous world and track records. I could go on and on and on but his record speaks for itself.

He was a pacing machine the likes of which we have not seen since he left the sport. Yes we have seen some very very good horses. I'll go so far as to say we've seen some great horses. But once again I will say that Niatross was in a class all by himself.
Even the great Secretariat was beaten cleanly on the racetrack. You can't really say that about Niatross.

We can agree to disagree and I respect your opinion and your enthusiasm for horse racing. It's great to see. But I will say that I think that most people would agree with that Niatross is far and away the GOAT.

If wiggle it jiggle beats the world record by 3 seconds and paces in 1:43 then i will compare him to the great niatross. The track surfaces are faster today, the bikes are better and so on. There are a lot of factors in play. The only fair comparison is how you stack up against your competition that you are racing against and if you do that Niatross had no peers. He easily defeated the best age pacers on the planet as a 3 year old.

Wiggle would have gotten the snot beat out of him if he would have tried the aged pacers as a 3 yr old. He has struggled at times as a 4 yr old against the aged pacers. It would be the same thing if we said the greatest drivers are those with the most money earned then Stanley Dancer, Joe O'brien, Billy Haughton and these guys would never get a mention because there are many no name drivers racing today with more money earned then them because of higher purses.

When comparing the past to the present you need to make it a fair comparison. Golfers today make more money in one year then the great Jack Nicklaus made in his entire career. Are we to say he couldn't play the game because of it. I rest my case.

Just one last thing . I just ran through some of the top horses and some of the top stallions in the game . GUESS WHAT ??? None of them have a single trace to Niatross ... Peculiar

The case isn't closed JOE. He's not done yet!!! This horse, right now, should be getting the publicity that Niatross got. It's 2016. You seem like a gentlemen. So I hope not IF, but when, he blows the :46.1 Cambest record away in the next 8 weeks... I read your expression of wow from you!! Just saying... By the way I'm not NEW :)

Just thought I'd throw this in for a frame of reference for my new friend Mike.
Mike, during the time that Niatross raced, the Free for All races which were contested regularly by the best horses of any age, were normally races that, if a horse had a really fast race, occasionally they might break the 2:00 and go in :59 or :58. In those days Niatross was racing regularly in 1:53 or 1:52. That made him anywhere from 5 to 8 seconds faster then his competition.
Seeing as the best horses today normally go in 1:49 or 1:48 if it's really fast, that means a horse would have to go in 1:40 or 1:42 to do what the mighty Niatross was doing in his time

Think Wiggle It or any horse for that matter can do that?
Didn't think so.
Case close my friend.

Wiggle It Jiggleit, beaten several times last year, once by Wakizashi, twice by Freaky Feet Pete, another time by someone I can't even remember.
Niatross - never. Sorry to tell you Mike but it wouldn't be much of a race. Niatross would take the lead as he always did and the race would be over before the quarter mark :)

I love it, that we the fans have a forum that allows opinion. That is fabulous. Times have changed, for sure and that's a good thing. Having said that, I don't know how the Teagues would slow down Wiggleit Jiggle It enough to race against Niatross. I just watched Niatross again, on you tube, win the Little Brown Jug. Now watch WIGGLEIT JIGGLE IT win the JUG... Case closed.

Hi Mike
I meant no disrespect to you by my comment so I hope you didn't take it that way. My only point was that without knowing your age I don't know if you had the pleasure of witnessing the great Niatross race. He was truly one of a kind and whenever a poll is taken by fans and horsemen alike as to the best harness horse ever, Niatross consistently comes out on top by a wide margin over the likes of Cam Fella, Nihalator, Somebeachsomewhere etc. etc.
Most people see him as being the best ever hands down. He was a 3 year who consistently beat not only the best 3 years olds but even the best older horses which you don't see today. The only two times he lost was when he beat himself by breaking one time and falling over the rail another time. He was never actually beaten by another horse on the racetrack and it didn't matter whether he raced on a half mile, 5/8 mile or one mile track they just couldn't beat him he was that good. And he broke track and world records on many different tracks. He raced in the Jug, set a world record in winning his heat and then came back and set another world record in winning the final. He time-trialed in 1:49 over 30 years ago and it takes a really good horse to race in that time even today.
It would've been scary to see how good he would've been as a 4 year old.
So with all due respect to Wiggle It JiggleIt, who I think is a very very good horse, and with all due respect to the Cam Fellas and Some Beaches of the world, my money goes on Niatross each and every time and with a great deal of confidence I might add.

In reply to by fantom

Greetings. For your information, you make it seemed like Niatross loss due to him falling over the rail @ Saratoga, and nothing could be further from the truth. Niatross was beat square and fair, and he was finish with an eight of a mile to go, and due to the fact that he got leg weary, caused him to veered into the rail and toss Clint Galbraith i think it was. So, please be objective in your opinion on Niatross, to give him the respect he deserves, winning or losing.

Secondly, I don't see why people are comparing Niatross to WiggleIt JiggleIt. Horse racing then, clearly isn't the same as horse racing now, nevertheless, regardless of Niatross's age, and who he beat or didn't beat, WiggleIt JiggleIt is by far the most Dominant Standardbred Pacer right now, bar none, and he is only getting better. Why not enjoy it as a racing fan, rather than exchanging barbs as to which of Niatross or WiggleIt JiggleIt is better.

Wiggle It Jiggleit is a nice horse but he couldn't tie Niatross's or Somebeachsomewhere's shoe laces, if they had shoe laces. He has lost more races then they have already and a half-decent group of aged pacers beat him at Yonkers. It won't surprise me at all when the dust settles for this year that he is not even the top aged pacer. Niatross was the greatest pacer of all time. He shattered the world record by 3 seconds and beat the best aged pacers on the planet as a 3 year old and beat them for fun. Case closed.

Never had the pleasure in knowing you JOE. You're obviously a horse race fan and that's a good thing. Going by your comment you don't know me either. I would take Wiggleit Jiggle It over any horse I've ever seen. PERIOD

Mike Scott,

with all due respect I take it you never saw the great and one and only Niatross. There will never be another like him.

The nicest thing about this whole wiggleit show, is the father and son thing. That is what standardbred horse racing should be. Family, brothers racing together, fathers and sons, husband and wife. Fathers and daughters. Old friends.

Fair and square race ! No monkey business and everyone was on the gate . So it's one -one in philly between these two greats . I love this horse !! I think he is the most powerful standardbred RACEHORSE I've ever seen . I will go even farther than that , in my opinion he is the best horse I've ever seen.

Wiggle it Jiggleit. Going to a lot of tired older horses by the end of the year chasing this guy! A machine and one of the ALL time best pacers. Congratulations to team Teague. Who knows what his record will be by the end of the year.
