Purse Increases For WDC Legs

With the 2017 World Driving Championship (WDC) set to kick off next Saturday (August 12) at Century Downs in Alberta, the five host tracks would like to advise local horsemen on some important information.

Century Downs and Georgian Downs will be increasing their purse structures for their events, and horses racing in all WDC legs will either receive purse money or a hitching fee.

Century Downs will increase the purses for each of the five WDC races by $2,000. The races will be contested at a distance of 1-1/16th miles with 11 horses in each race. A $400 hitching fee will be provided for horses that finish in sixth through 11th position in each WDC race.

Mohawk Racetrack will feature four races at a mile and a $300 hitching fee will be provided for horses that finish in sixth through 11th position in each WDC race. Mohawk has also increased the purses for its four races to: $15,000 for NW $4,000 last 5 (trot); $20,000 for NW $8,000 last 5 (trot); $15,000 for FM NW $3,000 last 5 (pace); and $15,000 for NW $2,500 last 5 (pace).

Georgian Downs will feature four WDC races at a mile. The purses for all WDC races will be doubled and a $300 hitching fee will be provided for horses that finish in sixth through 11th position in each WDC race.

Hippodrome 3R will feature four races at 1-1/16th miles. A $300 hitching fee will be provided for horses that finish in sixth through 11th position in each WDC race.

Red Shores will feature the final four dashes of the WDC at a distance of 1-1/16th miles and all starters in all of these races will receive a $300 “hook up” fee.

Standardbred Canada and the host tracks would like to extend their thanks to the horsepeople that enter horses in these events. Your support for the 2017 World Driving Championship is appreciated!
