Andrew Tirpak Jr. Passes

Horseman Andrew J. Tirpak Jr. passed away on Monday, September 29 at the age of 73.

He was the son of the late Andrew Sr. and Nellie (Mazur) Tirpak.

Tirpak was a graduate of Grove City College and served in the Army Reserve. He played college baseball, was an avid softball player, and was a proud member and third baseman of the winning Pittsburgh Gold, a team in the 65-plus North Allegheny Senior Softball League.

He was also involved in harness racing at the Meadows, where he was a trainer, driver and owner for more than 10 years.

Tirpak is survived by his beloved companion of 18 years, Nancy Bertoni; daughter, Dana (Todd) Allison; stepsons, Dave (Mary Beth) Bertoni and Chris (Mary) Bertoni; siblings, John, Edward, Joanne Behun, Albert, and Patricia; step-grandchildren, Samantha, Nick, Carlo, and Dom Bertoni; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, John.

Friends will be received Wednesday (October 1) from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the James F. Kutch Funeral Homes & Crematory, 433 Lincoln Hwy., East McKeesport, PA 15035, 412.823.4054. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bernadette's Catholic Church, Monroeville, PA on Thursday (October 2) at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
