Forever Paradise Looking To Strike

Published: September 3, 2014 04:58 pm EDT

Forever Paradise will aim to topple seven foes in the Thursday night feature at Red Shores’ Charlottetown Driving Park.

First-race post time for the 12-dash card is 7 p.m.

Marc Campbell will sit behind Forever Paradise (Post 3) in the $2,000 feature pace (Race 11) for trainer Kevin MacLean and owner Reg MacPherson of Stratford.

The four-year-old son of Western Paradise was a top stakes performer on the east coast the past two years, but had spent much of 2014 racing in the United States. He has registered a 1:55.1 victory since returning to P.E.I.

He will face two tough rivals in Perfect Escape (to be driven by Ron Matheson) and IDK (Vincent Poulton), who both show miles in 1:55 and change. Other entries include McJestic (Corey MacPherson), Cambest Kisser (Jason Hughes), First Art Down (Ken Murphy), Teddys Place (Thane Arsenault) and Cabo Pan Lucas (Daniel MacDonald).

The $1,850 Open Trot will line up for Race 5. Zip The Lip has been favoured from Post 5 for driver Brian MacPhee and trainer Donald Sweet. Sweet co-owns with fellow O’Leary resident Orville Willis. The six-year-old son of Ken Warkentin will start from Post 5 and brings in impressive form with a 2:01.2 victory in his last outing and a bang-up second the start before in the $10,700 P.E.I. Trotting Series final, won by Mopey Corey. His competition in the Thursday night Open Trot includes Pleasure Girls (MacPherson), Saulsbrook Balance (Willie Murphy), Lyrical Lindy (Hughes), Honeymoonisover (Brian Andrew), Caliban Hanover (Ron Gass), Frill Seeker (Kenny Arsenault) and Howmacs Pride (Campbell).
