Henry Nelson ‘Sandy’ Morton Passes

Henry Nelson ‘Sandy’ Morton, 67, of Aiken, S.C., passed away on Monday, September 15.

Morton was born April 15, 1947, in Dover, Del. He worked as an electrician and a USTA racing official as a patrol judge, starter, paddock judge and an associate judge in Delaware for 20 years before retiring.

He enjoyed playing golf, annual trips to Las Vegas with his sons, volunteering at several horse trials in the area, and most recently working with his dog, Baxter, to become a therapy dog for local hospitals and retirement homes.

Morton is survived by his wife of 24 years, Theresa Shahan (former associate judge in Maryland and Delaware); twin boys, Scott (Lisa) and Steven (Charlene); and grandchildren, Zachary, Olivia and Noah. He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy; and father, Vernon.
