The PEI Colt Stakes week continues with a double-header Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m., with the evening program beginning at 7:00 p.m.
The afternoon card features five divisions for two-year-old pacing fillies. The morning line favourites include Largomotion, Windemere Maggie, Howmacs Angel and the un-defeated Top Brand. The Brandons Cowboy filly is six for six with over $21,572 in the bank. Danny Romo will be in the bike to drive in Race 8.
Five divisions for the two-year-old colts will also highlight the matinee presentation with Forever Paradise getting the nod in the fourth race. The Western Paradise colt, owned by Reg MacPherson and David and Aron MacKenzie, has three wins from seven starts.
The action heats up early in the evening card when the three-year-old colts tangle in race three. Dubbed 'the glamour boys,' First Art Down, Mr Thompson and This Bird Will Fly make headlines early.
The big story on the program is the sensational Malabrigo. The three-year-old filly has won 12 races in a row. Trainer Marc Campbell will drive the 2012 undefeated daughter of Western Paradise, who has earned $59,417 this season and $111,225 lifetime, from Post 4 in the seven-horse field.
General Luckypercy Draws Rail in Pacing Series at Summerside
General Luckypercy, winner of the 2012 Spud Island Classic, lands on the pylons in the Atlantic Aged Mares Pacing Series, presented by the PEI Harness Racing Industry Association, Sunday night at Red Shores Summerside. First-race post time for the action packed card is 6:00 p.m.
General Lucypercy, from the team Matheson stable with Ron driving and son Jackie training, are having another hot season at Island tracks. The mare makes her 15 start of the campaign and meets Charlotte’s Maggie who won their last competition by a nose in 1:57.4 at Inverness. Mike Stevenson will drive for trainer Tom Weatherbie. The power-packed field also includes Private Joke, a winner of 1:56.3 last month for trainer Earl Watts, Elm Grove Future, JK Special and Shooters Bay.
Tobins Got It has won his last three starts for trainer Neal Moase but the colt will meet some stiff competitors Sunday night in the form of Toughest of All and Strident Hanover in Race 7.
War Cry Ranger gets top billing in the evening’s top class for driver Brian Andrew. Bet the House and BJ Cruiser are also morning lines favourites.
