In an effort to encourage horsepeople to buy Ontario-sired yearlings at the province's two upcoming sales, Rideau Carleton Raceway has announced it is offering free stall rent to any Ontario-sired yearlings sold at the upcoming Canadian Yearling Sale or Forest City Yearling Sale.

The offer, which will be for maximum of 40 stalls (one barn), is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Yearling buyers will receive free stabling from the date of purchase to June 30, 2015.

Jean Larose, General Manager at Rideau Carleton, is hoping to promote the breeding and sales of Ontario-sired racehorses. He is also optimistic about having more two-year-olds in Eastern Ontario at the beginning of the season, and hopes that the track will receive a schedule of Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots events for the 2015 racing season.

The 2014 Canadian Yearling Sale will take place Sunday, September 14 at the Standardbred Canada Sale Pavilion at Flamboro Downs in Dundas, Ont. The sale will kick off at 12 noon.

The 2014 Forest City Yearling Sale will be held at the Western Fair Agriplex in London, Ontario on Sunday October 12.
