Set To ‘Saddle Up’ At Georgian

Published: August 9, 2018 09:05 pm EDT

Racing Under Saddle returns to Georgian Downs on Saturday Night, and the program will feature a new face after she recently completed her qualifying engagements.

Sarah Cuthbertson was raised in Georgetown and now makes her home in Schomberg, Ontario. She was originally interested in RUS in 2015 after completing the RUS riding seminar. She had trouble negotiating stairs for a week after the seminar, but got hooked on Racing Under Saddle. Sarah spent the winter training in the gym, in the barn, in the books and on the track preparing for her debut.

While Sarah may be new to RUS, she is by no means an inexperienced rider, having contested some of the most extreme endurance races in the world: Mongol Derby in 2014 and Race the Wild Coast (South Africa) in 2016.

She trains, conditions, manages and competes Endurance horses with great success and has received several top awards in Endurance Riding (50 miles or more) and Ultra-Distance/multi-day riding. To learn more about Sarah, she shares her love of horse sport and training tips through her blog, www.EatSleepRideRepeat.com.

The Racing Under Saddle event is carded as race one and Cuthbertson has drawn the three-hole with Gifted Glider (8-1).

The remainder of the field has Sarah Town making her season's debut with rookie Extrapolate (5-2) for trainer Bernie Bahr on the rail, Next Kash (10-1) draws the two-hole for Amber Lawson-Brand and Les Posan. All Out Henry (9-5) has drawn the four-hole for local rider Maggie Jones and Pam Forgie, Burlington (5-1) makes his RUS debut for rider/trainer Britt Kennedy and Jangone (3-1) being ridden by Karoline Nielson for Julie Walker.
