Aged Mares Leg #3 Cancelled

It has been announced that the third leg of the Atlantic Aged Mares Pacing Series that was scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 29 at Exhibition Park Raceway has been cancelled due to inability of the racetrack to contribute the required added money.

Roberta Nixon, executive director of Horse Racing New Brunswick, has stated the following:

"Horse Racing New Brunswick (HRNB) deeply regrets having to cancel our participation in Leg 3 of the Atlantic Aged Mares Pacing Series. It was not an easy decision to make, but we had no choice. I believe it is well known in the industry that since the New Brunswick provincial government pulled all funding from harness racing here and then also rescinded an agreement with HRNB for gaming opportunities...well, it's a challenging situation. I am working with a good team of people to make changes, improvements, and get the financial house in order, but that all takes time. Meanwhile, an unexpected 'ball out of left field' can upset the delicate financial balance and that is what happened to cause Leg 3 of this series to be cancelled."

Any starting fees that were paid for the leg will be refunded.

The fourth leg of the series will take place as scheduled at Red Shores’ Charlottetown Driving Park on Saturday, September 19.
