Officials with Hanover Raceway have announced some of the details regarding promotional efforts that will coincide with the 11th edition of the Balance Image Trot, which will be the centerpiece of the track’s card of racing for this Saturday (August 29).
Hanover will be welcoming a local band by the name of ‘Susies Garage’ and will also be accommodating the staff from 92.3 The Dock.
Susies Garage, which is based out of Port Elgin, will be playing some rock and country classics between the races. Hanover has also announced that staff from The Dock have a great prize for one lucky racegoers on Saturday, as they will give away a $1,000 travel voucher from Hanover Travel. The winner’s name will be picked from a ballot bin, so make sure to fill out your ballot and enter!
Saturday’s $77,800 final of the Balanced Image for two-year-old trotters has been carded as Race 10. The field includes newly-minted track record holder Smoke Monkey, who etched his name into the Hanover record books last weekend after his 1:59.2 elimination victory.
Smoke Monkey has seven other contenders that will be looking to take the crown, including Major Muscle, a horse with local connections. Major Muscle is owned by Mark Etsell, formerly of Walkerton, along with Bob Newton of Walkerton and Chuan Tan of Cambridge. The filly won her elimination in 2:00.2, which was the second-fastest winner on the program. She will start from Post 8 in the final.
Officials with Hanover have also stated that the track will host its second and final Ontario Sires Stakes night the following week, as three-year-old trotting fillies will be taking to the track. The OSS has left 100 free tee shirts and a number of hats that Hanover is planning to give away that night to fans that purchase a program at the information kiosk starting at 6 p.m. That evening will also be CKNX Night at the races, which means another great prize from the ballot box for one of the track’s lucky fans.
First-race post time for Hanover’s card this Friday is 7:15 p.m.
