The family of horseman Peter Reen has sadly announced his sudden passing at Peace Arch Hospital on July 27 at the age of 89.

Reen was born in Sneek, Friesland and came to Canada after the war. He found his way into the standardbred horse industry. After many years of driving and training horses in Ontario and Quebec, Reen moved to BC where he maintained a stable of racehorses until his retirement in 1999.

A devoted supporter of harness racing in BC, Peter could always be found at Fraser Downs in Cloverdale where he was always surrounded by his many friends.

Reen will be lovingly remembered as a great father, devoted grandpa and loyal friend.

Please join the family for a celebration of Reen's life at Fraser Downs on August 17 at 3:30 p.m. Bring along your stories, as his loved ones are looking forward to sharing warm memories with all in attendance.

Friends are invited to leave a fond memory or message of condolence at www.myalternatives.ca or below.

Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the family and friends of Peter Reen.
