Trot Insider has learned that George E. Stringer, a well-respected owner, breeder and trainer from Kamloops, BC, passed away on August 7

.

Stringer was a decorated veteran of WWII. Following the war, he went to the University of BC and graduated with a Master's Degree in biology. Stringer then embarked on a long and successful career in the BC public service, retiring as the regional director of Fisheries and Wildlife. He was also well known in the curling world, as he won four BC curling championships.

George and his wife, Ev (who predeceased him in 2010), bred and raced many horses over the years. The Stringers were a fixture at all the summer meets at Sandown Raceway on Vancouver Island. They enjoyed the competition as well as the companionship of all the standardbred community.

George was well respected for the manner in which he lovingly cared for all of his horses.
