On Saturday night, August 13, Bill Haley's Comets and The Rip Chords will perform Doo Wop classics like "Rock Around The Clock," "Shake Rattle And Roll" and "Hey Little Cobra." Plus, fans can vote for their favourite classic cars. The concert is included in the $1 general track admission. Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome.
Bet an extra $5 on Saturday's fifth race and help harness announcer Larry Lederman as he undergoes treatment for a malignant brain tumor. The Meadowlands and the SBOA of New Jersey will donate all net profits from both on-track and simulcast wagering on the fifth race to help defray Larry's medical expenses. Larry will call the race using his famous impersonations of other track announcers.
Vote for the race callers you'd like to hear him impersonate on Meadowlands Racetrack's Facebook Fan Page or email [email protected]. Plus, Larry will sign autographs and pose for photos at 7 p.m.
Guests and horsemen should allow extra travel time to the Meadowlands on Saturday, August 13 due to the 4 p.m. Kenny Chesney concert at New Meadowlands Stadium. The 2011 harness meet concludes Saturday, August 20 with a fireworks show, live concert by The Party Dolls, family activities and round one of the Tioga/Meadowlands Driver's Championship. Plus, an all-you-can-eat BBQ pig roast will be available in Paddock Park for $35.25 per person.
