Forever Paradise Favoured Thursday

Forever Paradise has been pegged as the 5-2 morning-line favourite for Thursday’s featured pacing event at Red Shores’ Charlottetown Driving Park.

The featured dash has been carded as Race 11 and the seven-horse field will be chasing the lion’s share of the $2,250 purse.

Forever Paradise will be looking for redemption in Race 11.

The Kevin MacLean trainee was a second-place finisher in last week’s $3,500 Walter Dale Memorial in Fredericton, NB. Gilles Barrieau will be driving Forever Paradise on Thursday and the duo will start from Post 1 for owners Reg MacPherson and David MacKenzie of Stratford and Aaron MacKenzie of Winsloe.

Though he is heralded as the one to beat, the five-year-old son of Western Paradise will not race uncontested, as Cheyenne Ford (to be driven by Kenny Arsenault) has Post 2 and Cabo Pan Lucas (Daniel MacDonald) has Post 5. Other entries include Dusty Lane Oliver (Ron Gass), My Lucky Killean (Gary Chappell), Say It Again Sam (Jason Hughes), and Tempo Seelster (Vincent Poulton).

Sinners In Heaven rides his two-race win streak into the ‘Race 9 $1,700 back-up pace.’ Terry Gallant will be in the bike for trainer Earls Watts and owners Lana Murphy and River Valley Management of New Brunswick and Windemere Farms of Hampshire. His main morning line opponents are PC Shockwave (Wade Sorrie) and Whosurwinner (Hughes).

The evening trot class will line up for Race 3 for a $1,350 purse. Former Maritime Champion Phanton Beau is the initial favourite from Post 2 for driver Arsenault, trainer John Pineau and owners Peter Breau and Ann MacAulay of Moncton. Phantom Beau will have lots of company in the eight-horse field, as he will face off with a trio of rivals owned by the Andrew family. Post 3 has Presto Pegasus (MacDonald) for owners Bill and Rachel Andrew of Calgary, while Post 6 has Money Show (Brian Andrew) owned by Brian Andrew of Milton, Blake Andrew of Montreal and Bill Andrew. Honeymoonisover (Mark Bradley) completes the uncoupled entry from Post 7 for the ownership group of Blake and Brian Andrew.

First-race post time for the 12-race card is 7 p.m.
