Batavia Cancels Due To Horse Shortage

Officials at Batavia Downs have announced that the track has been forced to cancel its card of live racing that was scheduled for this Sunday (July 31) due to a shortage of horses.

“We regret to have to cancel Sunday’s program,” Todd Haight, the track’s director of racing, has been quoted as saying. “But there is currently a horse shortage in western New York, and while every effort was made by our racing department to fill Sunday’s program, those efforts proved unsuccessful.”

It has been reported that due to the cancellation, the track’s ‘Old Fashioned Day’ celebration has been rescheduled for August 7.
