The countdown to the 2012 edition of the Sobeys Gold Cup & Saucer continues Saturday night with a full 12-dash card of harness racing at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
First-race post time is 6:00 p.m. All the action is being carried at redshores.ca.
The story on the grounds is three-year-old gelding Kingdome Come, who is riding a three-race winning streak for owners Jack Hynes and Evan Ford and trainer Bo Ford of Charlottetown.
Kingdom Come, who has four wins and two seconds out of six starts including a three length victory in a sparkling 1:55.4 back on July 7, is the morning-line favourite in Race 9 and leaves from Post 4. Brian MacPhee has been assigned the driving duties as Mark Bradley, who drove the pacer so far this season, is committed to his trainee Milliondollarfeeln in the same race.
Meanwhile, Bradley has a live drive in the Red Shores feature as he gets the call to pilot Eagle Luck in Race 11 from trainer Jason Hughes. Hughes will drive is other trainee Leading Camdidate from Post 8. Owner Bill Andrew sends out two entries in the top class with Every Day driven by brother Brian and newcomer Lisfinny, trained by Jay Noye, gets the services of the capable Norris Rogers.
The field is full of star power with Pembroke Fella, Ultimate Success, Wellthereyougo and Carnivore also lining up behind the gate.
Marc Campbell and Image Works continue to raise money for the Prince County Hospital in the Drive for Charity event. Campbell, who leads all drivers in the promotion with 36 wins, has raised $900 going into Saturday’s card. The O’Brien award nominee is booked to drive All Turain in the Exhibition Cup Invitational in Truro on Saturday night.
