Standardbred Showcase Sunday, August 5

Published: July 26, 2012 01:13 pm EDT

The third installment of the Ontario Standardbred Show Series is happening next Sunday (August 5) at Grand River Raceway.

Spectators are welcome, no charge, and participants are encouraged to take part in the show with their registered standardbred. The shows have greatly increased in numbers this year, which is very encouraging. There are many things to do at the show besides show your horse.

For more details about the actual show, click here. In order to show your standardbred, please be advised you will be required to show proof of minimum $2-million liability insurance for showing your horse (OEF card, receipt for pending OEF card, insurance certificate for farm policy or proof of 2012 OHHA membership all work). COSA does not cover showing.

Both horse owner and rider need insurance (check the Standardbred Showcase website for further details).

A gentle reminder that dogs are not allowed on the property --- leave them in the comfort of your home, please.

In order to qualify for year-end points, you need to show in three of the four shows in the series. The next show is in Dutton on September 6. Standardbred Showcase, a nonprofit organization, runs solely by volunteers.
